Date:  7-17-2013
Number of Hours:  1.00
Manual Reference:  Page 8-38
Brief Description:  Fuselage assembly #17

I ventured into the garage (it was only 95 degrees out today) and made some measurement for the rotating fuselage stand.

For those building a rotiserie for the -8, here's what I am doing:

1. By a rolling engine stand (Harbour Freight, Canadian Tire, etc).
2. I bought 1 inch steel tube 1/8th thick walls.
3. Cut two lenghts at 20 1/2 inches, and the other two at 33 1/2 inches.
4. Drill the engine mount holes to 3/16th. The location holes are predrilled in the firewall.
5. Match drill the 20 1/2 pieces to the holes in the firewall.
6. Label each vertical support with the orientation and the side.
7. Take the centre piece of you engine stand, centre it and trace it on the firewall.
8. Take your 33 1/2 inch length pieces, set a level on top, and mark the position to intersect the centre piece drawn on the firewal.
9. Remove all the pieces, and weld the horizontal supports to the vertical supports.
10. Centre, drilll and bolt the centre piece of the engine stand to the horizontal support structure.
11. AN3 bolts will work fine to hold the vertical supports to the engine mount hole locations.

I also received numerous items from Stein, B&C, DIGIkey and Allied wire to help with the build. I also order the return springs for the brakes and the rudder pedal extension from Brent Owens at http://www.romeo-victor.com/. They should be here any day.
